Tuyeni Mwampamba is a Conservation and Sustainability Scientist with over 15 years of successful experience in co-developing solutions with communities, local governments, and practitioners to improve the outcomes for nature and people in Latin America and Africa. She has over 20 years of experience working with diverse actors from local to international scales and in multi-cultural and interdisciplinary environments. She is highly competent at synthesizing large volumes of socio-environmental data and undertaking interdisciplinary assessments for informing nature-related decisions. She has worked directly with national and international conservation NGOs to improve their conservation strategies, particularly in terms of community inclusion and assessing social and biodiversity impact.
Prior to joining TNC, Tuyeni worked as a Researcher Professor at the Institute of Research on Ecosystems and Sustainability in Mexico since 2012. Tuyeni holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of California at Davis – USA, a Specialist Degree Graduate Academic Certificate in Conservation Management from the University of California at Davis – USA, and an Undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies at Mt. Holyoke College, Massachusetts – USA. She has authored and co-authored more than 45 publications in scholarly journals including four book chapters and has successfully supervised and co-supervised undergraduate thesis, master’s thesis, and doctorate theses.
