Thomas Snitch talked on ways of using and deploying advanced technologies to combat wildlife poaching, including night IR imagery, live video, parachute night landing, and other issues.

Dr. Snitch is visiting professor at UMIACS and chairman of the Board of Visitors of the College of Computing, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland.

Snitch’s current research focuses on mathematical modeling to combat poaching of endangered species in Africa and Asia. He combines high-resolution satellite imagery, unmanned aerial vehicles and algorithms developed with other researchers at UMIACS to provide useful information to game wardens protecting the animals.
