Hannah Reid, Ph.D., Senior Researcher with the International Institute for Environment and Development, gave an overview presentation on the important two-way linkages between climate change, human society and biological resources, with direct and indirect impacts. Impoverished communities are especially vulnerable to changing dynamics in biodiversity and ecosystems that are in turn affected by changing climactic conditions. By embracing comprehensive environmental conservation and management, resource managers can create win-win conditions for climate change adaptation, mitigation and biodiversity conservation, and sustainable rural livelihoods.
