The primary focus of this report is on the potential environmental impacts of large-scale land acquisitions, particularly considering the dearth of knowledge on this relatively new and poorly regulated phenomenon. 

The report also underscores the connection between “land grabbing” and “water grabbing”; the detrimental impacts of land speculation on local communities; and inadequacies of environmental regulations.
